Bio

Ghost Road’s roots lie in the family. Brothers Beau & Steve Bennett starting the band with their father & uncle back when they were teenagers. Over the years the band has evolved, taking on different Rhythm Sections & exploring new sounds. Twenty-five years on, the boys now have Brother In-Laws, Brody Yonon (Drums) & Ben Hardman (Bass) holding down the groove.

With Steve & Beau up front, both sharing Vocals, Rhythm & Lead Guitar, pumping out Original tunes that take you back to a time when it was all about the music & it’s feel. At the core they’re playing the Blues, though their true essence is in how they tie all of their influences together, from Funk, Folk, Rock, Reggae and even a little Country to create their own unique sound.

Releasing their first Album, ‘Private Eyes’ in 1997, the band went from playing pub gigs up & down the East Coast of Australia to playing alongside music greats such as Kevin Borich, Charlie Musselwhite, Mal Eastick, Ian Moss, The Bondi Cigars & Paul Kelly. And playing such Festivals as The Australian Blues Festival, Goulburn, Newcastle Blues Fest, Caloundra Music Fest, Davistown Blues Fest, The Railway Blues Fest, The Cool Creek Rhythms Fest, Broadbeach Blues Fest and more, wowing audiences around Australia.

Nearly eight years after their first release & by huge demand, came the release of ‘Fake Disguise’ in 2005, featuring their 5 sisters on BV’s & some of their close muso friends. This led to live performances on NBN TV, interviews with Doug Mulray, features in Guitar Magazines & playing such venues as Lizzottes in Newcastle & The Basement, Sydney to a packed house. Which is where they recorded their third Album ‘Ghost Road Live’.

For 13 years they have had a residency in the Australian Snowfields, playing 5 nights a week at venues in Charlottes Pass, Thredbo, Perisher Blue & Smiggins Hole.

Their name has spread far & wide, gaining new fans, young & old, wherever they roam, & keeping the audience smiling & tapping their foot to the band’s good vibes & tight grooves.

They are a true ‘Band’, all the boys playing a vital role in the band’s sound. If you find them doing a show near you, do not miss it! Their shows are full of variety & will make you want to dance! You’ll hear punchy (Tom Petty style) vocals from Steve, laying down solid Rhythm & Lead guitar… smooth (Robben Ford style) vocal sounds from Beau, licking a slick slide solo… Ben keeping the groove train rolling along & Brody holding the shuffle down tight.

This band is destined to be one of Australia's finest and most popular Blues and Roots bands. They are the most creative group I know. (Keith Armatage, Songwriters Live)
